Endometriosis Diagnosis Using Ultrasound

Endometriosis is a medical condition where tissue similar to the lining inside the uterus, called the endometrium, grows outside the uterus. This can lead to pain, inflammation, and the formation of scar tissue.
Around 10% of women have this condition, which is most common in women in their thirties or forties. But teenagers and young ladies can have it too.

Symptoms often include pelvic pain, painful periods, and fertility issues. Endometriosis can be managed through various treatments, including medication, surgery, or other interventions, depending on the severity and individual circumstances. Even though medications available that can alleviate your symptoms, it is a chronic illness that can significantly affect the quality of your life.

Our high-frequency ultrasound scans can assess the extent of any endometriosis inside your belly especially, deeply infiltrating endometriosis. To enhance visualisation, a transvaginal scan might be necessary. While this may be uncomfortable, it is generally not painful. Please feel free to communicate if you find any part of the procedure unpleasant and want us to stop.

Deeply infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) refers to a severe form of endometriosis where endometrial-like tissue grows beyond the lining of the uterus and invades nearby structures. It can affect various pelvic organs, such as the ovaries, bladder, and the bowel.

After we confirm your endometriosis diagnosis, please consult a reproductive Medicine specialist for a more personalised support.
