How Pelvic Ultrasound scan is performed?
An ultrasound scan is a medical imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of the internal structures of the human body.
This helps to visualse organs, tissues, and fluid-filled structures, of the human body, such as the uterus or blood vessels. The echoes produced by the sound waves bounce off human internal organs and tissues and are then transformed into visual images on a computer screen. These images are then interpreted for a diagnosis.
These ultrasound waves are not known to cause any harm to humans.
We use two different ways here to perform your ultrasound scan.
In the ” transabdominal method” we place the ultrasound probe with a small amout of gel on your lower belly. This will feel cold and you will feel pressure but no pain.
Ultrasound gel is used during ultrasound procedures to help maintain good contact between the skin and the ultrasound probe. It eliminates air pockets, allowing sound waves to travel smoothly between the probe and your skin. It improves the quality of the ultrasound image by improving the transmission of sound waves and reducing reflections.
Additionally, it acts as a lubricant, making the procedure more comfortable for you.
The “transvaginal” ultrasound involves a long probe being, gently placed in your vagina for a closer look at your uterus and ovaries. This may feel cold and you can feel pressure but no pain.
